Bushfire

Powerful and accessible solution for bushfire risk assessment professionals

Bushfire — Environmental Risk Assessment Software UX Case Study

Bushfire is an advanced report generation software specifically designed for bushfire risk assessment firms. The project focuses on integrating and processing diverse data sources such as LiDAR and aerial imagery, providing a comprehensive and user-friendly interface for users.

Challenge:

A significant challenge in the creation was developing a software system capable of efficiently integrating and processing vast amounts of complex data from multiple sources, such as LiDAR and aerial imagery, while ensuring real-time performance and accuracy. Additionally, the system needed to generate detailed reports compliant with AS 3959 standards and support interactive drawing capabilities for site analysis. This required balancing high computational demands with a seamless user experience, all within a scalable architecture.

What We Did:

Designed and implemented interactive drawing tools with user-friendly interfaces. Included features like drag-and-drop, zoom, and layer toggling to facilitate precise site analysis. Integrated real-time feedback mechanisms to guide users and ensure accuracy in their assessments. Developed an intuitive user interface that simplifies the interaction with complex datasets, making the tools accessible to users with varying levels of technical expertise.

Map-First Desktop Assessment

The UX/UI design for Bushfire aimed to create an intuitive, user-friendly interface that enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of bushfire risk assessment professionals—integrating complex data sources into a cohesive, accessible layout on a large-format display.

Reports List And Split Workspace

A light shell frames the reports table while a navy companion shows map-plus-form split view—contrasting list density with spatial context for the same assessment workflow.

Long-Form BAL Reporting

A perspective laptop highlights document-style output: narrative, tables, and controls together so reviewers can validate compliance-oriented detail in one continuous surface.

Hazard Context And Parcel Detail

Paired views stress hazard emphasis and parcel-level sidebar data—showing how the same basemap scales from risk callouts to operational inspection.

Type Ramp And Product Iconography

A documentation-style panel pairs heading scales with body samples alongside a navy icon grid—giving engineering and stakeholders a shared vocabulary for navigation, documents, maps, and safety motifs.
